NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHTS:

FRIDAY'S NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
University Hospitals' COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Volunteers have stepped forward to provide invaluable service at UH’s COVID Vaccination Clinic. A patient wrote, "A heartfelt note to commend the professional staff and volunteers at the University Hospitals Management Services Center on Warrensville Center Road in Shaker Heights for how they handled my recent COVID-19 vaccination. It was comforting to see the friendly security guard on duty in a parking area cleaned of snow and ice. Many helpful, enthusiastic volunteers were present to greet and guide those of us there for vaccinations along the corridors to the registration area. This area was replete with clear, explicit signs and was well-staffed. My vaccine was administered with a painless stick in a private, curtained area by Maureen, a registered nurse. The post-shot waiting area was staffed by watchful, pleasant folks who provided water and orange juice, if needed. The entire experience was reminiscent of my positive Army days long ago. I was finished with my visit in half an hour. Thank you to the professional staff and volunteers. I look forward to my next shot in March."
Thank you for all you do UH COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Volunteers!

THURSDAY'S NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Some people don’t have anyone to help them make important life decisions.
Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Volunteer Guardians act in the best interest of a person with a developmental disability, serving as an advocate and substitute decision-maker in the care and management of the person's medical and personal affairs. Volunteer Guardians have played an important role during the pandemic ensuring their assigned person stayed healthy and safe.
Thank you for all you do Volunteer Guardians!

WEDNESDAY'S NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Jeffrey Abe has volunteered in many positions at Holden Forests & Gardens over the past 3 years. Jeff started off as a gardening assistant and trail monitor, but then he went on to help with special events and moved into other roles. His most recent roles are working with invasive species removal and as a tree planter. Even during the pandemic, he managed to volunteer more hours in 2020 than he did in 2019, and both years he gave over 200 hours each year!
Thank you for all you do Jeff!

 TUESDAY'S VOLUNTEER WEEK VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Fred and Dianne Discenzo teach a bi-weekly series of ballroom dance lessons to Cleveland Sight Center clients. No experience? Not to worry! Both Fred and Dianne are skilled, silver level dancers with 15 years of dancing and 10 years of teaching under their belts. The object of each series, they say, is to keep people engaged, socializing, and most importantly having fun! Both Dianne and Fred express the sense of accomplishment and feeling of reward they feel when teaching, fondly expressing, “we get a paycheck in laughs and hugs!”

Thank you for all you do Fred and Dianne!
